RCT examples
These interactive notebooks read landmark randomized controlled trials through the CONSORT 2025 reporting checklist. Each one connects the trial’s design, participant flow, outcomes, uncertainty, and harms to the reporting items they support.
The notebooks run entirely in your browser with marimo and WebAssembly. The first load may take a moment.
Critical care and acute illness
- NICE-SUGAR: intensive versus conventional glucose control. Intensive glucose control increased 90-day mortality in critically ill adults.
- RECOVERY: dexamethasone versus usual care. Dexamethasone reduced 28-day mortality among hospitalized patients with COVID-19, with benefit concentrated among patients receiving respiratory support.
Cardiovascular prevention and strategy
- SPRINT: intensive versus standard blood-pressure control. A lower systolic blood-pressure target reduced major cardiovascular events and all-cause mortality while increasing selected adverse events.
- ISCHEMIA: initial invasive versus conservative strategy. An initial invasive strategy did not reduce the primary composite endpoint in stable ischemic heart disease over the reported follow-up.
